Sakak Co., Ltd., a pioneering startup in personal data management, has been recognized with an Excellence Award at the 2022 Seoul Campus Town Achievement Presentation. The event, held on November 15th at Sejong University's Gwanggaeto Hall, showcased the accomplishments of 33 participating universities in Seoul's Campus Town initiative.
The company stood out for its innovative Web 3.0-based decentralized MyData platform, 'CANDiY' (Can Do It Yourself with Data), set to launch in the first half of 2023. CANDiY aims to revolutionize personal data management by returning control to individuals, addressing longstanding issues in the MyData service landscape.
"We developed CANDiY to improve upon the public institution and enterprise-centric MyData services," said Geon-gyu Bae, CEO of Sakak. "Our focus is on giving individuals control over their data while maintaining transparency and security for efficient management and safe utilization of personal information."
CANDiY integrates fragmented personal information from public, financial, and medical institutions, granting data usage rights exclusively to individual users. The platform employs blockchain technology to ensure top-notch security and transparency. It also creates a structure where users can benefit financially by connecting them with businesses in high-demand sectors for personal data, such as healthcare, education, and consumer services.
The Seoul Campus Town Achievement Presentation, co-hosted by Seoul City and 33 Campus Town universities, featured two main competitions: the Campus Town Rookie Startup Competition and the Campus Town Outstanding Startup Selection Contest. The event was live-streamed on the 'Seoul Campus Town TV' YouTube channel and included exhibition booths for 71 Campus Town startups to showcase their products and services.
Sakak's recognition at this event underscores the potential of its MyData solution in addressing critical issues of data sovereignty and privacy. "While our team consists of technical experts, we lacked entrepreneurial experience," Bae noted. "The support from Soongsil University's Venture SME Center, including patent assistance, marketing support, and entrepreneurship education, was instrumental in enhancing our business's completeness."
Looking ahead, Sakak plans to recruit a large user base upon CANDiY's launch, aiming to create a new paradigm in the data market by enhancing the efficient management and value of personal data as an asset. The company is also in collaboration with domestic and international firms, with plans to target markets in the United States and Europe.
This award not only validates Sakak's innovative approach to personal data management but also highlights the success of Seoul's Campus Town project in fostering promising startups. As concerns over data privacy and control continue to grow globally, Sakak's CANDiY platform stands poised to make a significant impact in the evolving landscape of personal data management and utilization.
